The 36-year-old, from Sly's first marriage to Sasha Czack, was found dead at his Hollywood apartment on July 13.
Despite earlier allegations of drug use, none were found in his system at the time of death, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner.
Officials said on Thursday that Sage passed away due to a condition that causes blockage of the arteries.
A source told TMZ, it was "unusual" for a person Sage's age to have such advanced coronary problems.
An initial autopsy on Sage's body proved inconclusive.

Following Sage's tragic passing, Sly was left "devastated" and "grief-stricken" by his loss and missed several promotional events for his film The Expendables 2.
He said: "When a parent loses a child, there is no greater pain.
"Therefore I am imploring people to respect my talented son's memory and feel compassion for his loving mother, Sasha."
He also "begged" for the memory and soul of Sage – who played the actor's on-screen son in 1990 movie Rocky V – to be "left in peace" amid speculation of how he died.
He added: "This loss will be felt for the rest of our lives. Sage was our first child and the centre of our universe. I am humbly begging for all to have my son's memory and soul left in peace."
Earlier this week, Sly, who made it to the London premiere of the Expendables 2 earlier this month, was rocked by another family tragedy when his half-sister died.
Toni Ann Filiti lost her battle with lung cancer at their mum Jackie’s Santa Monica, California, home on Sunday. She was 48.

Karen Gale, 52 — formerly called Keith — was filmed having surgery as part of the Channel 4 series My Transsexual Summer.
When Keith, as a 26-year-old man, told his Metropolitan Police boss he wanted to become a policewoman, he was told he would have to resign.
More than two decades later, ex-officer Karen believes society is more tolerant of transsexuals and has applied to the Met to become a special constable.
Karen, from Purfleet, Essex, said: “I never thought they would allow gay, lesbian and transgender people in the police force, but things have really changed.
“I would love to get back in the force and I feel that I could help to make things better for other people.”
Karen was a constable in Romford for four years when her wife came home and found her dressed in women’s clothes.
After confessing her urge to live as a woman, Karen’s police bosses were adamant she had to leave. She had her surgery on the NHS last August.
Now she has attended a course run by the Met’s Transgender Team and decided to reapply after talking to transgender friends who have become officers.
Karen, who has a grown-up daughter, has to wait two months before learning if her application has been successful.
She said: “The Eighties was a bit of a rough time in the police force. There were riots, the miners’ strike and lots happening, but I just loved working as a police officer.
“A lot has changed since then and I will have to undergo the training again, but it would just be good.”

Marie Friendship, 38, could get up to 14 years behind bars after forcing herself on the lad.
She faced eight charges of having sexual activity with a child, pleading guilty to one that was accepted by prosecutors.
Friendship was told to register as a sex offender, while the judge adjourned sentencing for reports.
She had a sexual relationship with the boy — who cannot be named for legal reasons — between 1 July 2011 and 12 February this year, the court was told.
The news comes the day after married teacher Emma Webb was found guilty of giving sexual favours to three boy pupils aged between 15 and 17.
Prosecutor Richard Posner said the Crown would consider applying for a Sexual Offences Prevention Order to stop Friendship contacting her victim in the future.
Robert Duval, defending, said: “This is a serious offence and I accept that is the case.
“We would like to have a pre-sentence report. This is a lady of previous good character.”
Friendship, from Whitchurch, Bristol, was bailed by the city’s crown court ahead of her sentencing on 21 September.
The Recorder of Bristol Judge Neil Ford QC told her: “The fact I am adjourning the case for a pre-sentence report is no indication of the sentence imposed on you in due course.
“The fact you have been given bail is no indication of the sentence.”
Friendship, who cites Harry Potter and David Beckham as "likes" on her Facebook page, is listed as being in a relationship on the social networking site.

Man Who Raped another Man Pleads he was drunk

Bestwood Chuckwuemeka, a 28-year-old man who was arraigned on Monday at a Magistrates Court in Abuja for sodomy has pleaded that he committed the crime under the influence of alcohol.

According to the police prosecutor, Cpl. Umar Mohammed, on August 8, a man from Gidan Mangoro, Abuja, reported to the divisional headquarters, Karshi, Abuja, of the alleged rape by the accused person. Mohammed said that the accused had sexual intercourse with the complainant on his bed when the complainant was fast asleep. This, the prosecutor said, was contrary to section 284 of the Penal Code.

However, in his response to the charges, when the charge sheet was read out, the accused pleaded not guilty. He said “I came back drunk from the night club and thought I was sleeping on the same bed with my girl-friend and I started romancing her.”

But the Magistrate, Nafisat Buba, said that alcohol should not be seen as an excuse for committing the offence, “Despite being under the influence of alcohol, the accused should not use that as an excuse to commit the crime,” she said. She however granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, saying that one of the sureties must be a civil servant on GL 09. The case was then adjourned till September 17 for further hearing.

The 2012 nomination of the African Film and Television Arts Festival, ZAFAA is a deluge of stars. For an event that started in 2006 and holds annually in the United Kingdom, it is good news to many Nollywood actors/actresses as their names topped the list of the October 19 ceremony.

Veteran actor Olu Jacobs and star actress, Funke Akindele Oloyede have been nominated. Nominated for the Best Actor award, Olu Jacob’s role in the film, Adesuwa definitely worked in his favour. Also nominated in the same category were Joseph Benjamin, and John Dumelo. Funke Akindele was nominated for the Best Actress award, along with Monalisa Chinda, and Nadia Buari. Also nominated for awards were Nse Ikpe-Etim, and Martha Ankomah, who were both nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award. Lancelot Imasuen, Desmond Elliot, and Ruke Amata were nominated for the Best Director award.

According to Prince Samuel Anwuzia, Chief Executive Officer, ZAFAA Global Awards Limited, organisers of the awards, the 2012 edition remains unique, what with the crop of artistes nominated.

There were more nominees from Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Ghana, Sierra Leone, the United Kingdom and the United States respectively.

“The plan is to partner with Ojez Entertainment to gain the confidence of the stars that built ZAFAA from inception to date and make it more reputable now that we have gained the support of foreign film-makers and recognition by the British Broadcasting Corporation. A TIGER mauled its female keeper to death yesterday — just yards from zoo visitors — after escaping from its enclosure.

The male big cat slipped through a poorly secured gate to attack the woman, 43, in a storage area.
It was shot dead by zoo chief Theo Pagel before it could reach any areas open to the public.
Shaken Mr Pagel said: “This is the darkest day of my life.” Referring to the unsecured gate, he confirmed: “It appears it was a question of inadvertence.”
Cops said it was unlikely visitors saw the midday horror at the zoo in Cologne, Germany — founded in 1860 and one of the country’s oldest. They added: “It appears the gate wasn’t properly shut.”
The attraction was briefly evacuated and later reopened to visitors. But a planned late-night opening was scrapped.
The animal, a four-year-old Siberian tiger called Altai, was previously housed at an unidentified centre in the UK.

AN Angelina Jolie lookalike held a terrified taxi driver at knifepoint while she forced him to have sex, police have been told.

Cabbie Nicolae Stan, 34, claimed stunning Luminita Perijoc, 30, then threatened to kill him unless he agreed to perform another sex act.
Married dad-of-three Nicolae said: “Later she still stabbed me.”
He finally escaped after barricading himself in a bedroom and desperately calling cops on his mobile phone.
Nicolae’s ordeal started after he dropped off Perijoc — who models herself on Tomb Raider star Jolie — at her apartment.
He said: “She asked me to help with her bag but when we were upstairs she got me in to her kitchen and told me she had to have sex.
“I don’t think she was used to anyone saying no because she flew into a rage when I declined. She took out a knife and forced me to undress.”
Nicolae was later taken to hospital with half a dozen knife wounds.

A doctor who certified dead a Mexican baby which later revived in its coffin has been charged with homicide.
Dr Jenny Gijon, who declared the premature infant girl dead in early August, faces homicide, abuse and misconduct charges, said Jose Rodriguez, the attorney general of Hidalgo state.
During the wake, the baby's parents heard a strange noise coming out of her little coffin and when they opened it found the baby crying. The baby was taken to hospital, but died three days later of asphyxia.
Mr Rodriguez said the death caused "great indignation and anger." Another doctor, Dario Davila, who allegedly hired Gijon improperly to take over his shifts at the hospital, faces charges of abuse of authority and misconduct, as does the hospital's former director, his assistant and the head of the obstetrics department.
Doctors in Mexico often receive more money from private practice, but sometimes also keep themselves on the payrolls of state-run hospitals.

Aides to President Barack Obama have been complaining this past of week of the President’s behavior during meetings. Speaking on condition of anonymity, several high-level staffers have said that the President has seemed distracted since being granted his super-secure blackberry device this past week.

“He’s just always sitting there, not looking at anyone who’s talking to him, just staring at that stupid device. He needs to constantly be re-fed information, and he never gives any input – just sits there button mashing.”

One aide detailed a meeting regarding the revisions to the economic stimulus package that President Obama has been attempting to push through congress. According to the aide, the President was looking down, looking very frustrated during the entire meeting, leading several advisers to believe that he was quite angry with them. It was only when President Obama’s eyes grew large and he exclaimed “Alright! I got an extra life!” that it became clear to everyone that the President was actually playing a video game on his portable device.

Dana crash victims’ relation accuses airline of insincerity

A relation of one of the victims of the June 3 Dana plane crash, Mr. Ogbonnanta Uwaeme, has said the management of the airline is not sincere and sensitive to the demands for payment of compensation.
Over 153 passengers, crew and persons on the ground died when a Dana Air flight from Abuja to Lagos crashed into four buildings in Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos State.
Uwaeme told newsmen at the Lekan Ogunsola Memorial Mortuary, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital that Dana officials were trying to frustrate the payment of the compensation through unnecessary bureaucratic processes, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Uwaeme, who lost nine family members, expressed bitterness at the entire process of claiming the money.
“I am extremely bitter about the airline because Dana is doing some funny things. They are not being considerate.
“They are not thinking about the trauma they have already caused people.
“Look at the compensation they said they want to pay to relatives, just $30,000 or about N4.8 million?

The Enugu State Police Command on Friday said its officers had commenced an investigation in a bid to know those who bathed a female sex worker with acid in Enugu.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday that the victim, who was bathed with acid on August 7, was recuperating at the Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu.
Amaraizu said the victim, who was identified as a commercial sex worker, was reportedly hanging out around Artisan Market, Independence Layout, Enugu.
He said the incident occurred along Ozubulu Street, Independence Layout and was carried out by an unidentified man that used to patronise her as a commercial sex worker.
