Michael Jackson tour promoters drop £10million claim for insurance payout

Michael Jackson tour promoters AEG drop claim for insurance payout
Tragic ... Michael Jackson died aged 50
THE promoter of Michael Jackson's axed This Is It tour has dropped its claim for a multi-million dollar insurance payout.
It comes just days after emails revealed AEG had doubts about the singer's health at the time the firm applied for the £10million policy.
Insurance company Lloyds of London sued AEG and Michael Jackson LLC after the superstar's death over claims they had failed to disclose vital information about his health and drugs use.
But AEG says the move is not connected to the discovery of the emails.
Paul Schrieffer, of Lloyds, told CNN: "In exchange for AEG withdrawing its insurance claim, underwriters agreed to dismiss AEG from the case and to waive any costs recoverable from AEG.”
He said the insurance case continues against the Michael Jackson Company LLC "due to nondisclosures of Michael Jackson's prior drug use".
The Michael Jackson estate, which controls Michael Jackson Company LLC, is reportedly still pursuing its claim for a payout.
The emails, sent just weeks before the singer's attempted comeback, revealed the poor state of Jacko's health.
One from concert director Kenny Ortega said: "MJ is not in shape enough yet to sing this stuff live and dance at the same time.”
Another production manager called the singer a "basket case" and others told how he would drink and take drugs.

THIS African Nations Cup qualifier was moved to AVOID violence — but it did not stop these players from scrapping at full-time.
With Libya still recovering from civil war, their clash with Algeria was moved to a neutral venue in Casablanca, Morocco.
However, after Algeria substitute Soudani scored a late winner, things turned sour.
Algeria’s Islam Slimani could be seen karate-kicking Libya’s Mohamed El Mughrabi in the back after the final whistle.
And other players and staff also got involved as the ugly scenes escalated.
Soudani’s goal gives the Algerians a crucial lead heading into the second leg on Wednesday.
This winner of the tie will automatically qualify for the African Nations Cup early next year.

MANCHESTER CITY will be without Mario Balotelli for a month after the striker undergoes eye surgery next week.
Balotelli, 22, required contact lenses to cure his short sight, but allergies have forced him to stop wearing them.
The Italian international is now due to have laser treatment in Brescia and is likely to be sidelined for the Premier League games against Stoke, Arsenal, Fulham and Sunderland.
He will also miss City’s Champions League clashes with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund — leaving boss Roberto Mancini short of options up front.
